WaFd, Inc., the parent company of WaFd Bank, announced that veteran commercial banker Colin Murphy has joined the bank as Regional President of Northern Oregon. Murphy brings more than 22 years of experience—15 of which have been in commercial banking—to his new role, where he will oversee both commercial and retail banking strategy across the region. In his most recent position at BMO/Bank of the West, he led a commercial banking team covering Portland, Seattle and Boise, managing portfolios totaling over $1.2 billion in funded assets and achieving year-over-year loan growth of 12%. At WaFd, Murphy will focus on strengthening client relationships, driving market growth and building high-performing teams; his appointment expands WaFd’s executive bench as the bank operates 230 branches across nine Western states and reported total assets of $25 billion at year-end 2023. Murphy’s community credentials include service on the finance committee for Camp Fire Columbia’s Board of Directors and volunteer work in youth sports. WaFd, founded in 1917, offers consumer and commercial deposit accounts, small- to middle-market business financing, commercial and residential real estate lending, and insurance products through its subsidiary.
