Wall Street set to open higher as oil slips; telecoms hit by SpaceX spectrum deal
SPY•US stock futures pointed to a higher open, with Dow futures up 0.06%, S&P 500 futures up 0.28% and Nasdaq 100 futures up 0.63%, as oil prices fell. Telecom shares declined after SpaceX agreed to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum portfolio.
1. Futures point higher
US stock indexes were set to open higher Friday as oil prices retreated on easing concerns about Middle East supply disruptions. Brent crude fell more than 1% but remained above $100 a barrel. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were headed for weekly gains, while the Dow was on track for a slight weekly gain.
2. Telecoms fall on deal
SpaceX gained 3.2% after striking a deal to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum portfolio. T-Mobile US fell 7.2%, AT&T declined 6.9% and Verizon eased 5.7%.
3. Company movers
Humana rose 16.6% after US government data showed 95% of its members were in Medicare Advantage plans rated four stars or higher for 2027. Apple fell 2.5% after a media report said it had told some suppliers to cut production of components for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Delta Air Lines dropped 2.5% after cutting its annual profit forecast by nearly a quarter at the midpoint of its range.
