Walmart Plans Over 650 Store Remodels and 20 New US Openings by 2027
Walmart will remodel over 650 US stores and open 20 new locations through early 2027, including sites in Eastvale, California; Apollo Beach, Jacksonville and The Villages, Florida; and a Neighbourhood Market in Ocala. Upgrades include wider aisles, expanded pickup/delivery, enhanced pharmacy and Vision services, and digital in-store features.
1. Multi-Year Investment Plan
Walmart is advancing a multi-year initiative to remodel over 650 US stores and open approximately 20 new locations by early 2027. This builds on its 2024 commitment to open or convert over 150 locations while continuing upgrades to existing stores.
2. New Store Locations
Planned new openings include Supercentres in Eastvale, California; Apollo Beach, Jacksonville and The Villages, Florida; a Neighbourhood Market in Ocala, Florida; plus expansions in Tucson, Arizona and a Supercentre in Celina, Texas. Last year saw nine outlets launched across Alabama, California, Florida, New Jersey, Texas and Utah.
3. Store Modernization and Omnichannel Enhancements
Renovated stores will feature wider aisles, updated interiors, expanded pharmacy and Vision Centre services, and extended pickup and delivery capabilities. Digital in-store integrations via the mobile app will support navigation, price checking, digital payments and fulfilment options, enabling three-hour delivery to 95% of US households.
