Waterstone Financial Q2 FY26 net income rises 10.39% to $8.5 million; net interest margin widens 43 basis points to 3.03%

Waterstone Financial posted Q2 net income of $8.5 million, up 10.39% year over year; diluted EPS rose to $0.49 from $0.43.
Mortgage banking and capital return
Mortgage Banking pre-tax income fell 20.2% to $1.6 million as loan originations rose 5.6% to $621.8 million on softer sales margins.
Book value per share increased to $19.53; the company returned $6.5 million via buybacks and dividends, including a $0.17 per-share payout.
Net interest margin reaches highest level since 2022
Net interest margin widened 43 basis points to 3.03%, the highest since the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2022. Community Banking net interest income climbed 16.1% to $15.8 million; management cited higher loan yields and lower funding costs.
