Waymo has activated its autonomous ride-hailing service for a limited group of early users in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Orlando. Riders are invited through Waymo’s early access program to test the fully driverless vehicles on public roads in these four markets.

This rollout marks Waymo’s fifth major U.S. market after Phoenix and represents the first expansion into both Texas and Florida. The move aims to gather real-world usage data, refine service operations and build consumer trust before opening to a broader audience.

The robotaxi fleet uses Waymo’s custom LiDAR, radar and camera suite alongside on-board compute to navigate urban environments. Each trip runs on a software stack tested over millions of miles, and vehicles transmit sensor data in real time to monitoring teams for oversight and incident analysis.
