2. Acquisition of FirstFleet Expands Dedicated Service Leadership
Werner Enterprises has agreed to acquire FirstFleet, Inc., a privately held dedicated trucking provider, in a transaction valued at approximately $245 million in cash, plus the separate purchase of select real estate assets. The deal, expected to close in the second quarter, will propel Werner into the position of the fifth-largest dedicated carrier in the U.S. and bolster its service offering in core markets. FirstFleet’s operations contribute incremental annual revenues estimated at $200 million and add 450 tractors and 1,200 trailers to Werner’s modern fleet. This strategic move enhances the company’s Dedicated segment, which leverages its EDGE® technology platform, and is projected to generate cost synergies through route optimization and shared maintenance facilities.
3. Solid Financial and Operational Footing Supports Growth
In 2024, Werner generated $3.0 billion in revenue across its truckload transportation and logistics services, serving customers throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The company operates a modern fleet of more than 8,000 tractors and 24,000 trailers, managed by over 12,500 associates. Werner’s Logistics segment—including brokerage, freight management, intermodal and final-mile solutions—contributed nearly 25% of total revenue, reflecting balanced end-market exposure. The recent conferences and FirstFleet acquisition align with management’s strategy to drive long-term value through targeted growth initiatives, operational excellence and a balanced sustainability approach that addresses safety, environmental and governance objectives.
