West Fraser generated $13.3 million in carbon credit sales from regulatory compliance operations and achieved a 25% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions from a 2019 baseline alongside a 20% cut in Scope 3 emissions from 2020, maintaining progress toward its 2030 Science Based Target initiative goals.
2. Renewable Energy and Science-Based Targets
The company sourced 78% of its global energy use from biogenic and renewable sources in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to decarbonizing operations and embedding sustainability into production across its lumber, engineered wood products and pulp facilities.
3. Biodiversity and Reporting Initiatives
West Fraser published its first Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures report for its Alberta operations, released a formal Biodiversity Policy and launched a Biodiversity Community of Excellence to oversee stewardship across five biodiversity pillars.
4. Community Partnerships and Employee Recognition
A new long-term fibre supply agreement with Lake Babine Nation secures sustainable raw materials for the Smithers, B.C. lumber mill, while the company earned recognition as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for the thirteenth year and received the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health certification.
