West Virginia American Water has begun a $560,000 upgrade on Dunbar’s 18th Street, replacing 720 feet of aging cast-iron pipe with 6-inch PVC main. Crews will work weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., targeting May completion and full street restoration by summer 2026.
2. 2026 Statewide Investment Plan
The company plans to deploy $129 million across West Virginia in 2026 for water and wastewater infrastructure upgrades. These projects aim to enhance system resiliency, reduce service disruptions and support local economic activity.
3. Decade-long Capital Investment Record
Since 2016, West Virginia American Water has invested $805 million in capital projects and infrastructure improvements in the state. Economic analyses estimate that each $1 million invested generates ten jobs, bolstering employment and regional growth.
