Westlake Q3 sales beat estimates on higher sales prices, profitability plan benefits
WLK•Westlake’s third-quarter sales rose to $2.98 billion, beating the $2.95 billion estimate, while adjusted net income improved year over year on higher sales prices and benefits from its profitability plan. Net income was $6 million, and the company recorded charges for previously announced facility shutdowns.
1. Sales and earnings
Westlake reported third-quarter sales of $2.98 billion, above analyst estimates of $2.95 billion. Adjusted net income improved year over year, helped by higher average selling prices in its Performance and Essential Materials segment and benefits from its profitability plan. Net income was $6 million, and earnings per share were $0.05.
2. Segment pressures
Performance and Essential Materials earnings faced higher energy costs, weak demand and increased import pressure in Europe. Housing and Infrastructure Products was affected by lower sales volumes, particularly for pipe and fittings, and higher distribution costs. Westlake recorded charges for previously announced facility shutdowns, including a PVC plant in Germany.
3. Outlook
Westlake expects higher borrowing costs to weigh on near-term sales volumes in Housing and Infrastructure Products, while citing infrastructure spending and investments as support for medium- to long-term growth. The company said Performance and Essential Materials selling prices had stabilized, with upward momentum entering the fourth quarter of 2026.
