1. Fighting Fires Together Campaign Overview
Weyerhaeuser launched the fifth year of its Fighting Fires Together campaign across Oregon to bolster wildfire preparedness and community resilience. The effort unites financial support, response partnerships and behavioral health resources for rural fire districts and wildland firefighters.
2. Rural Fire Protection Grants
Through its Giving Fund, the company provided nearly $25,000 in grants to four rural fire protection districts in Oregon, funding rescue, medical and wildland firefighting equipment and expanded training. This builds on last year’s 38-acre land donation for a new emergency substation in Lane County.
3. Training and Mental Health Resources
A $10,000 investment in Lane Community College’s Wildland Fire Management Program will fund tools and safety equipment for hands-on training in fuels reduction and fire behavior assessment. The campaign also offers online mental health support via the Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance to address PTSD, anxiety and stress among wildland firefighters.
