Whirlpool has acquired a former solar panel manufacturing building in Perrysburg, Ohio and will invest over $60 million to transform it into a state-of-the-art production facility. This marks the company’s 11th U.S. factory and its 6th in Ohio, focusing on advanced automation and subassembly work for washers and dryers.

The development is scheduled over the next two years and is expected to generate between 100 and 150 new full-time positions, with final hiring contingent on approval of state incentives. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned later this year once construction milestones are met.

This expansion follows a $300 million investment in laundry operations announced in October, which added a new production line and 400–600 jobs. Approximately 80% of Whirlpool’s major appliances sold in the U.S. are domestically produced, backed by $23 billion spent on manufacturing, labor and logistics over the past decade.
