Wilshire estimates S&P 500 corporate pension plans’ aggregate funded ratio rose 2.3 percentage points in July, ending at 111%.
- Liability value fell 4.1 percentage points, offsetting a 2 percentage point drop in asset value.
- Funded ratio is up 7.5% year to date, up 9.9% over the past 12 months.
Yields and market moves affected liabilities
Corporate bond yields used to value liabilities rose more than 40 basis points; credit spreads widened, pushing liabilities lower.
Wilshire 5000 declined for a second month; Treasury curve bear-steepened as the Fed held rates steady.
