Wolfe Research Downgrades Shopify as ReturnPro Launches App with 10,000+ Drop-Off Network

SHOPSHOP

Wolfe Research downgraded Shopify from outperform to peer perform noting shares struggled to break through a downward ceiling after a year of gains. ReturnPro’s new Returns Portal App on the Shopify App Store offers merchants end-to-end reverse logistics with 10,000+ drop-off locations and no monthly fee, potentially strengthening Shopify’s ecosystem.

1. Wolfe Research Downgrades Shopify to Peer Perform

Wolfe Research announced a downgrade of Shopify to peer perform from outperform as part of its internet stock coverage realignment. Analyst Rick Ducat highlighted that while the company’s shares have appreciated by approximately 40% over the last 12 months, they have repeatedly failed to clear a technical resistance level near their mid-year highs. Wolfe Research cited concerns over decelerating revenue growth in Shopify’s core subscription segment—down from 62% year-over-year growth in Q4 to 45% in the latest quarter—and rising marketing expenses that have pushed the operating margin below 10%. The downgrade reflects a more cautious view on Shopify’s ability to sustain its current valuation multiple in light of incremental margin pressure and increased competition in the direct-to-consumer e-commerce space.

2. ReturnPro Launches End-to-End Returns Portal App on Shopify App Store

ReturnPro has rolled out its new Returns Portal App, offering Shopify merchants a fully integrated solution that extends beyond customer returns initiation. The app provides access to a network of over 1,000 drop-off locations and 12 processing centers across the U.S., Mexico and Canada, enabling inspection, refurbishment and relisting of returned items. Merchants can manage returns through a centralized dashboard and route refurbished inventory back to their own storefronts or to more than 20 secondary marketplaces. ReturnPro’s infrastructure supports 10,000+ nationwide drop-off points and automated resale workflows, designed to improve recovery rates and reduce write-offs. There is no fixed monthly fee; Shopify merchants are charged only upon receipt of returned merchandise, aligning costs with actual returns volumes.
