Would-be Taylor Swift concert attacker loses privacy case against Disney
DIS•An Austrian man convicted of planning a foiled 2024 attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna lost a privacy lawsuit against Disney over his parents’ home appearing in a docu-series. The segment was removed in May; his lawyer said he would appeal.
1. Court rejects privacy claim
The man, identified as Beran A, challenged Disney over a few seconds of footage showing his parents’ home in “Taylor Swift: The End of an Era.” Judge Nicole Baczak ruled that he did not live there and had not lived there for two years, adding that there was no prospect of him returning in the near future.
2. Separate settlement
Disney lawyer Georg Kresbach told the court that Beran A’s parents each received €3,000 ($3,400) in compensation for the home’s appearance in a separate settlement. The series first aired in December 2025, and the segment showing the address was removed in May.
3. Conviction and sentence
Beran A was sentenced to 15 years in prison in May and has been in custody since his arrest in August 2024. He was convicted of terrorism-related offenses, including attempting to illegally buy weapons and producing a small amount of the explosive triacetone triperoxide.
