WTW sees global M&A deal value up 23.9% on surge in $10 billion-plus mega-deals
WTW•WTW data showed completed global M&A deal value rose 23.9% to $1.65 billion in the first nine months, with 24 deals above $10 billion completed.
1. M&A activity rises
Completed M&A deal volume increased to 614 in the first nine months from 529 a year earlier, while third-quarter volume eased to 200 from 202. Nine mega-deals closed in the third quarter. Acquirers underperformed the MSCI World Index for a second quarter, with completed deals lagging by 10.3 percentage points in the third quarter. Deals completed within 70 days rose to 43% of third-quarter transactions from 35%, and cross-sector deals increased to 35% from 25%.
