Xcel Energy misses Q2 revenue estimates, reaffirms 2026 ongoing EPS guidance
XEL•Guidance and result drivers
Xcel Energy reaffirmed its 2026 ongoing EPS guidance of $4.04 to $4.16.
Key drivers of the quarter included:
- Electric infrastructure recovery — higher recovery of electric infrastructure investments was the main driver of EPS growth.
- Lower fuel and power costs — lower electric fuel and purchased power expenses contributed to higher earnings.
- Higher interest costs — increased interest charges due to higher debt levels partly offset earnings gains.
Quarterly results miss revenue estimates
Xcel Energy said its second-quarter revenue declined and missed analyst expectations. Diluted GAAP and ongoing EPS for the quarter rose to $0.93 from $0.75 a year earlier.
The company said EPS growth was driven by higher recovery of electric infrastructure investments, partly offset by higher financing costs.
