Xcel Energy sells Michigan gas operations to SEMCO, electric business to UPPCO
XEL•Xcel Energy agreed to sell its Michigan natural gas business to SEMCO ENERGY Gas and its electric operations to Upper Peninsula Power. The assets serve about 6,000 gas customers and 9,000 electric customers; the sale is expected to close in 2027, subject to regulatory clearances.

Xcel Energy agreed to sell its Michigan natural gas business to SEMCO ENERGY Gas and its electric operations to Upper Peninsula Power. The assets serve about 6,000 natural gas customers and 9,000 electric customers in Gogebic and Ontonagon counties. Service is expected to continue without interruption, with no immediate changes to billing, rates or customer service processes. Closing is expected in 2027, subject to state and federal regulatory clearances.
