XCF Global Reno Plant Recovers 500 kW Power, Saves 50,000 Gallons Water Daily
XCF Global's Reno plant recovers up to 500 kW of steam-generated power and saves over 50,000 gallons of water daily, cutting electricity purchases and water costs in an arid region. These initiatives lower carbon intensity and operating expenses while boosting efficiency at its 38 million-gallon annual sustainable fuels facility.
1. Plant Efficiency Initiatives
XCF Global’s New Rise Renewables Reno facility has integrated a steam turbine generator that captures excess steam from its methane reformer to produce up to 500 kW of electricity. The plant also recovers roughly 35 gallons of water per minute — over 50,000 gallons per day — preventing evaporation losses in its arid Nevada location.
2. Cost and Emissions Benefits
By offsetting grid electricity purchases and conserving water, these measures are expected to reduce operating expenses and support lower carbon intensity in fuel production. Improved resource utilization aligns with XCF’s strategy to enhance margins as it scales sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel output.
3. Production Capacity and Growth Pipeline
The Reno plant holds a permitted nameplate capacity of 38 million gallons per year of sustainable fuels, positioning XCF as an early mover in large-scale SAF. The company is evaluating expansion opportunities in Nevada, North Carolina and Florida to further grow capacity and support decarbonization goals.
