YMTC’s share of China’s NAND market reached 38.5% in the second quarter, compared with 28% for all of 2025, according to Omdia. Samsung is targeting monthly output of 40,000 wafers of 286-layer NAND at its Xian plant by December 2027, while SK Hynix plans to move its Dalian facilities from 192-layer NAND to chips with at least 240 layers. US licensing policy allows existing operations but excludes technology upgrades or capacity expansion, threatening the modernization efforts.
