Yum China’s KFC KPRO Surpasses 300 China Outlets, Eyes 600 by Year-End

YUMCYUMC

KFC's KPRO concept in China has surpassed 300 locations and aims to reach 600 by year-end, up from just over 200 in 2025. The menu is adding Energy PRO sandwiches and high-protein yogurt smoothies in July, leveraging existing KFC stores to drive incremental sales with lower operating costs.

1. Rapid Network Growth

KPRO has grown from just over 200 locations in 2025 to more than 300 by May 2026, with an updated target of 600 outlets by December. Expansion focuses on tier-1, tier-2 and select tier-3 cities, particularly in eastern and southern China.

2. New High-Protein Menu Additions

To cater to health-conscious consumers, KPRO will roll out Energy PRO sandwiches and high-protein yogurt smoothies in July. The sandwiches feature whole-wheat chia seeds with roasted chicken breast or tuna and egg plus five vegetables, while new smoothie flavors boost nutritional appeal.

3. Integrated Store Model & Cost Efficiency

KPRO operates within existing KFC stores, leveraging in-store resources to lower investment and operating costs compared to standalone units. This modular setup enables cross-selling to KFC members and drives incremental sales and profit for parent outlets.

4. Supply Chain & Quality Standards

Backed by Yum China’s supply chain management and stringent safety controls, KPRO uses raw-safe eggs, strict produce cleaning protocols, and separation of raw and cooked foods to ensure freshness and food safety. Calorie labeling and balanced nutrition emphasize value and transparency.
