Zelenskiy, Wall Street executives hold talks on Ukraine's reconstruction
C•Volodymyr Zelenskiy met with senior Wall Street executives in New York to discuss investments for Ukraine's reconstruction, including winter support and the economy. More than two dozen U.S. companies attended; the daily cost of the war grew to about $190 million this year.
1. Talks focus on investment
The meeting took place Wednesday on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York City. Ukraine's government said discussions focused mainly on helping the country get through winter and supporting its economy.
2. Companies and fund discussed
More than two dozen U.S. companies attended the meeting, facilitated by Citigroup and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Participants also discussed setting up a sovereign wealth fund and strengthening Ukraine's economy with support from members of the International Advisory Group.
3. Citi pledges support
Citi CEO Jane Fraser said the private sector would play an essential role in Ukraine's reconstruction. Citi said it was looking to help mobilize investment and support Ukrainian companies; attendees included executives from BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, Lazard and State Street.
