Effective immediately, Zions Bancorporation has appointed Margaret Mayer as Chief Information Officer and Ken Collins as Chief Transformation and Operations Officer to jointly oversee its Enterprise Technology and Operations team, replacing longtime CTO Jennifer Smith.

2. Outgoing CTO’s Contributions

Jennifer Smith departs after a 20-year career during which she implemented the first-in-US modern integrated deposit and loan core banking system, modernized legacy technology, simplified enterprise practices and oversaw construction of the 400,000 square foot Zions Technology Center.

3. New Leadership Profiles

Margaret Mayer joined Zions two years ago as Chief Technology Officer following senior roles at Capital One and Discover, while Ken Collins brings 24 years of Zions experience across multiple ETO positions; their combined expertise aims to drive the bank’s tech modernization.

As of December 31, 2025, Zions Bancorporation held $89 billion in total assets and generated $3.4 billion in net revenue, operating under local brands across 11 states in the western U.S.
