Zscaler Expands Data Sovereignty to Canada with SSL Inspection, DoD IL5 Compliance
Zscaler has expanded its Zero Trust Exchange platform by adding a Canadian local control plane alongside existing US, European and six logging-plane regions. The update delivers in-region SSL inspection, malware analysis and a ‘Collect Once, Certify All’ framework that accelerates compliance with GDPR, NIS2 and DoD IL5.
1. Expansion of Regional Control Planes
Zscaler has introduced a local control plane in Canada, augmenting its existing infrastructure in the US, Europe and six dedicated logging-plane countries. This expansion enables customers in regulated markets to process data within national boundaries, addressing rising demands for regional data residency.
2. In-Region Security Features
The Canadian deployment includes in-region SSL inspection and malware analysis, ensuring sensitive traffic is analyzed without leaving jurisdictional limits. These capabilities integrate directly into the Zero Trust Exchange platform to maintain low latency and high throughput for enterprise users.
3. ‘Collect Once, Certify All’ Compliance Framework
Zscaler’s new compliance framework centralizes telemetry collection and standardizes certification across GDPR, NIS2 and DoD IL5. By unifying audit processes, the framework reduces validation time and streamlines cross-border regulatory attestations for customers.
4. Infrastructure Resilience and Customer Impact
Operating over 160 data centers worldwide on proprietary cloud infrastructure, Zscaler eliminates single points of failure and supports live-fire drills for financial institutions. The enhanced sovereignty setup is expected to drive adoption among governments and highly regulated industries seeking proof of resilience and compliance.
