NVO•A survey found about 10% of U.S. employers covering GLP-1 weight-loss drugs plan to drop coverage in 2027 and 5% of large employers are considering cuts, potentially slowing demand despite recent price reductions. 1. Employer Coverage Cuts
A recent survey reveals about 10% of U.S. employers covering GLP-1 weight-loss therapies plan to eliminate benefits in 2027, with an additional 5% of large employers considering cuts. This follows rising utilization despite price declines for Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo, raising concerns about slower market growth and higher out-of-pocket costs for employees.
2. UK Approval of Wegovy Tablet
The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency authorized Wegovy’s first daily oral tablet for adults with obesity or weight-related health issues. This approval marks Novo Nordisk’s entry into the oral weight-management segment, potentially boosting prescription volumes and diversifying the company’s obesity treatment portfolio.
3. IT Security Incident
Novo Nordisk identified unauthorized access to a limited number of internal IT systems and launched an investigation with external cybersecurity experts. The company is collaborating with authorities to assess the scope and mitigate risks, although no material operational disruptions have been reported so far.
