AbbVie is investing $1.4 billion in a 185-acre campus near Research Triangle Park in Durham, North Carolina. Construction starts in 2026, with completion by end-2028, integrating AI-driven manufacturing and laboratory technologies to bolster production capabilities.

The project will add 734 full-time roles spanning engineers, scientists, manufacturing operators and lab technicians, plus over 2,000 construction jobs during development. Site selection was driven by the local skilled workforce and potential for future expansion.

This campus represents AbbVie’s largest single-campus capital outlay to date and advances its $100 billion commitment to U.S. R&D and manufacturing over the next decade. It will serve as the U.S. center of excellence for small volume parenteral drug manufacturing supporting the immunology, neuroscience and oncology pipelines.
