Markel Insurance has appointed Danny O’Donoghue as Head of Fine Art & Specie for its London operations, effective immediately. He reports to Dan McCarthy, Director of Marine at Markel International, and will oversee underwriting across Fine Art, Specie, Jewellers Block and Cash in Transit.
2. Strategic Responsibilities
In the new role, O’Donoghue will drive sustainable expansion of Markel’s Fine Art & Specie portfolio by identifying, assessing and underwriting complex risks. He will also foster broker relationships and collaborate with Claims and Actuarial teams to tailor coverage and enhance service levels.
3. Professional Background
O’Donoghue brings over 15 years of specialty underwriting experience, including 13 years in Fine Art & Specie. He previously led global strategy and execution at Talbot’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 1183 and AIG platforms, and spent over a decade underwriting Fine Art & Specie at Aspen.
