Academy Sports + Outdoors Raises 2026 Guidance After 6.7% Q1 Sales Gain
ASO•Academy Sports + Outdoors posted 6.7% first-quarter sales growth with comparable sales up 2.9% and e-commerce up 17.4%, driving GAAP EPS of $0.80 (+17.6%) and adjusted EPS of $0.93 (+22.4%). It opened two stores and raised full-year sales growth guidance by one percentage point to 3–5%.
1. First-Quarter Financial Results
Academy Sports + Outdoors achieved first-quarter net sales of $1,442 million, a 6.7% increase. Comparable sales grew 2.9% and e-commerce sales jumped 17.4%, lifting GAAP EPS to $0.80 (up 17.6%) and adjusted EPS to $0.93 (up 22.4%).
2. Guidance Raise and Outlook
Based on Q1 momentum, the company raised its full-year sales growth guidance by one percentage point to a 3–5% range. Adjusted diluted EPS guidance was increased by $0.30 at the midpoint to $6.40–$6.80 per share.
3. Store Expansion and Capital Allocation
Academy opened two new stores during the quarter, bringing its total to 324. Cash rose 18.5% to $337.8 million, inventories were down 0.8% in dollars, and the board declared a $0.15 quarterly dividend per share.
