BMO plans buyback of up to 25 million shares under normal course issuer bid
BMO•BMO announces normal course issuer bid
BMO plans to repurchase up to 25,000,000 common shares for cancellation under a normal course issuer bid, pending OSFI and TSX clearance.
The program is expected to start around Sept. 8, 2026, and end on Sept. 7, 2027, unless terminated earlier.
The buyback ceiling equals about 3.6% of the public float as of July 31, 2026.
Shares would be bought on the TSX, and potentially other Canadian venues; pricing would typically be at market, with exemption-order purchases generally discounted.
Common shares outstanding totaled 697,146,398 as of July 31, 2026. BMO's existing buyback runs from Sept. 5, 2025 to Sept. 4, 2026.
