X-energy, AEP and Amazon partner on proposed 960 MW nuclear project in Indiana
AEP•X-energy and American Electric Power signed an agreement to assess a proposed 960 MW nuclear project in Indiana, with Amazon providing milestone-based development funding.
1. Project assessment
The proposed plant would have 12 Xe-100 units near the retired Breed Generating Station in Sullivan County, on an AEP-owned brownfield site. Amazon’s funding supports the project, described as the second commercial deployment under its collaboration with X-energy; the collaboration targets more than 5 GW of new U.S. nuclear capacity by 2039.
