AGNT CEO says US existing-home sales could fall below 4 million in 2027
AGNT•AGNT CEO Leo Pareja said U.S. existing-home sales could fall below 4 million in 2027 for the first time since 1995. He said mortgage rates could reach 8% before falling to 5%, while the national median existing-home price was $429,100, up 1.6% year over year.
1. Sales outlook
Pareja described a transaction-volume downturn underway since 2023, with annual existing-home sales hovering around 4 million. He said mortgage rates could reach 8% before falling to 5%, limiting prospects for a sales recovery, but a broad price crash remains unlikely in his outlook. Inventory growth slowed to 5.9% in 2026 from 28.9% in 2025, while life events should continue driving home sales.
