Air Canada cuts some capacity in first quarter on higher fuel costs
Air Canada cut more than 2 points of planned first-quarter 2027 capacity as higher fuel costs pressured margins, and lowered its full-year adjusted EBITDA forecast to C$2.4 billion to C$2.7 billion from C$2.9 billion to C$3.2 billion.
1. Capacity and forecast
Air Canada said it proactively cut more than 2 points of planned capacity in the first quarter of 2027 to help shield margins. It now expects fourth-quarter jet fuel prices to average about C$1.72 per liter, up from its prior estimate of C$1.29 per liter.
2. Quarterly results
Operating revenue rose about 21% to about C$7 billion in the three months to September. Net income fell to C$139 million, or C$0.49 per share, from C$264 million, or C$0.88 per share, a year earlier. Air Canada said winter demand remained steady across most geographies, with some pressure in the domestic market.
