Air Canada, United Airlines to expand Canada-US network with new summer routes
Air Canada and United Airlines will launch new Canada-US routes for summer 2027 and increase capacity on Edmonton-San Francisco flights. They also agreed to renew and expand their trans-border joint business agreement, subject to Canadian regulatory approval.
1. New routes planned
Air Canada will launch Toronto-Louisville, Montreal-Indianapolis and Edmonton-Newark services for summer 2027. It will also increase capacity on its Edmonton-San Francisco route using larger Airbus aircraft.
2. United adds flights
United announced seasonal service between Newark and St. John's, Newfoundland, and new flights from Denver to Ottawa and Quebec City, as well as increased service on several existing Canada routes.
3. Agreement awaits approval
The airlines said the expansion supports business and leisure travel and builds on their joint business agreement. They have agreed to renew and expand the agreement, subject to approval from Canadian authorities, despite softer cross-border demand in recent months.
