Air Products to build LNG-based air separation unit for Petronas-led venture in Malaysia
APD•Air Products signed a deal to design, build and operate an LNG-based air separation unit in Malaysia for a Petronas Gas Berhad-led joint venture. The facility is expected to produce more than 600 tons per day of liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon and begin operations in early 2027.
1. Project details
Air Products said the facility will be built at the Pengerang LNG regasification terminal in Johor for PG Cold Energy 1, a joint venture led by Petronas Gas Berhad and Dialog Group. It will supply customers in southern and central Malaysia, including the electronics, petrochemicals, aerospace and manufacturing sectors.
2. Capacity and timing
The plant will produce more than 600 tons per day of liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon. Air Products said it will be Malaysia’s first LNG-based air separation unit and its fifth in Asia, with operations expected to begin in early 2027.
