Airbus jetmaking CEO sees early decision on higher A350 output
Airbus plans to decide “sooner rather than later” on expanding A350 production capacity, CEO Lars Wagner said. The current line is designed for 12 to 13 jets a month, and a higher rate would require a new line and industrial system.
1. A350 capacity decision
Airbus plans to bring a decision on increased A350 production capacity to its board, Wagner said, adding that the market demands more aircraft. The current assembly line was designed to handle 12 to 13 jets a month; going higher would require a new line and industrial system.
2. Other aircraft plans
Airbus is also studying a longer A350 with more seats and a bigger version of the A220, with decisions expected toward the beginning of a five-year planning period. Wagner said Airbus remains confident of meeting its year-end delivery goals and continues to consider 2030 as a “notional” date for launching an all-new single-aisle jet.
