Deutsche Telekom Security Leverages Akamai Partnership for Proactive API Security and Guardicore Segmentation Services
Deutsche Telekom Security is using Akamai’s Security Certified Service Provider initiative to deliver proactive Day-2 API security operations, hybrid deployments, API audits, quarterly business reviews, incident management, and proactive testing for finance, insurance, critical infrastructure, and public sector customers. The partner is also extending support for Akamai Guardicore Segmentation administration, security incident management, and audit and compliance services on sovereign cloud environments.
1. Deutsche Telekom Security Partnership
Akamai announced that Deutsche Telekom Security, a member of its Partner Connect program, is leveraging Akamai’s Security Certified Service Provider initiative to offer comprehensive cybersecurity solutions across finance, insurance, critical infrastructure and public sector clients. The collaboration delivers proactive Day-2 operations, including continuous API security lifecycle management, quarterly compliance audits, hybrid deployment support and expert incident response, all available on sovereign cloud platforms.
2. Enhanced API Security and Microsegmentation
Under the new service model, Deutsche Telekom Security extends support for Akamai Guardicore Segmentation environments, providing segmentation administration, threat monitoring, audit and compliance services. These capabilities address the surge in API attacks—reported at 150 billion incidents between January 2023 and December 2024 in Akamai’s 2025 State of the Internet report—and offer organizations robust microsegmentation to isolate critical workloads and limit attacker lateral movement.
3. Industry Impact and Customer Success
Deutsche Telekom Security’s early adoption of Akamai’s enhanced programs has yielded measurable benefits, including a recent deployment of software-defined segmentation for a major German state bank. This implementation strengthened the bank’s regulatory compliance posture and protected sensitive infrastructure, while 24/7 monitoring by over 240 cybersecurity specialists enabled near-real-time threat detection and rapid remediation, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
4. Positive Analyst Outlook
Equity analysts have upgraded Akamai to a Buy rating, highlighting the strength of its cloud security and edge AI inference offerings as offsetting declines in legacy CDN services. Third-quarter results showed year-over-year growth of 39% in cloud infrastructure services revenue and 10% in security revenue, while non-GAAP EPS rose 17%. Strong free cash flow margins of approximately 25% and an interest coverage ratio of 19.5x underpin forecasts of continued upside over the next 12 months.
