Akebia initiates Phase 2 basket trial of complement inhibitor ebribafusp in rare kidney diseases
AKBA•Phase 2 basket trial begins for rare kidney diseases
Akebia Therapeutics launched a Phase 2 basket trial of ebribafusp for rare complement-mediated kidney diseases.
Initial results have not been presented; first data are expected in 2027.
The study tests whether weekly injections can reduce kidney complement activity while avoiding broad blood complement suppression.
Readouts will focus on safety, signs of disease improvement, kidney function trends, drug exposure, and biomarker changes.
The program expands Akebia’s pipeline in immunology-driven nephrology following its 2025 acquisition of global rights from Q32 Bio.
