Alaska Airlines launches daily Seattle–London flights, invests in 41,000-sq-ft lounge

ALKALK

Alaska Airlines launched daily nonstop Seattle–London Heathrow flights and will add Reykjavík service on May 28, marking its third European route this year. The carrier plans a multimillion-dollar, 41,000-sq-ft two-level global lounge at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, opening late 2027.

1. Launch of Seattle–London Nonstop Service

Alaska Airlines began daily nonstop service between Seattle and London Heathrow on May 21, reinforcing its position as the fourth-largest U.S. global carrier. Operating year-round from Terminal 3, the route offers seamless connections across Europe via oneworld partners.

2. Additional European Routes

This launch follows last month’s debut of nonstop Seattle–Rome service and precedes the May 28 start of Reykjavík flights timed to Iceland’s peak summer season and the August 2026 solar eclipse viewing. These additions expand the carrier’s footprint to three European destinations and enhance West Coast access.

3. Seattle–Tacoma Global Lounge Investment

The airline plans a multimillion-dollar investment in a 41,000-sq-ft two-level global lounge at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, set to open in late 2027. The facility will feature showers, premium bars, à la carte dining and dedicated spaces for international travelers and elite members.

4. International Business Class Suites Expansion

Alaska is rolling out its international business class Suites on 787-9 Dreamliners across its growing network, currently serving Incheon, London and Rome, with Seattle–Tokyo service launching this fall. The carrier has also opened an exclusive Suites and Atmos Titanium check-in lobby in Seattle to streamline long-haul travel.
