Alaska Airlines Taps PrimeFlight for London Heathrow Cargo Ahead of May 21 Launch
Alaska Airlines has appointed PrimeFlight Aviation Services to manage cargo operations at London Heathrow for its upcoming May 21 daily nonstop Boeing 787-9 service from Seattle. PrimeFlight will handle loading, unloading, and pallet build-up and breakdown, leveraging its support network at six US airports and recent European acquisitions.
1. Partnership Details
Alaska Airlines has selected PrimeFlight Aviation Services to manage cargo operations at London Heathrow ahead of its May 21 launch of daily nonstop service from Seattle using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. PrimeFlight will oversee loading, unloading, pallet build-up and breakdown, and ground freight receipt to support the new route.
2. Cargo and Aircraft Use
Cargo will be transported in the bellyhold of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners inherited through the Hawaiian Airlines acquisition, extending Alaska’s long-haul network after its 2025 launches to Tokyo and Seoul and planned spring service to Rome. This setup allows efficient use of widebody capacity on intercontinental flights.
3. PrimeFlight's Operational Footprint
PrimeFlight already supports Alaska Airlines at six US airports and expanded its European presence with the 2025 acquisition of Airworld, alongside air container and cabin maintenance operations at London Heathrow and Frankfurt. These investments bolster its ability to meet growing cargo handling demands.
