Alcoa partners with Australia, Japan, US on gallium plant at Wagerup refinery

Alcoa reached a final investment decision with the governments of Australia, Japan, and the US to develop a gallium production plant in Western Australia.

• The facility will be co-located at Alcoa’s Wagerup alumina refinery, positioning the site as a new source of gallium for critical mineral supply chains.
• Alcoa will build and operate the plant, using its alumina refining and mineral processing capabilities.
• Construction is expected to start once final site preparations are completed.
• Alcoa expects its role in the joint venture to have no material impact on its financial position or operating results.
