Algoma Steel Group Inc Reports Unplanned Outage At Lake Superior Power Plant

Algoma Steel Group said it expects future shipment volumes may be affected by the outage.
The company also said it has suspended electric arc furnace production due to the power outage and expects the electric arc furnace outage to last no more than 21 days.
Restoration efforts and contingency plans
Algoma Steel Group said it is working with GE Vernova to commission a spare turbine at Lake Superior Power.
It is also pursuing an alternative onsite power supply arrangement with IESO.
Unplanned outage at Lake Superior power plant
Algoma Steel Group Inc. ASTL.TO said one Lake Superior power turbine unit has been taken offline, while other units are unaffected.
The company is currently assessing the potential duration of the outage and the associated operational and financial impacts.
