Aligos Secures $25M Upfront, $420M Milestone Deal for HBV Drug in China
ALGS•Aligos received a $25M upfront payment for the exclusive Greater China license of its HBV therapy candidate pevifoscorvir sodium, which just earned Breakthrough Therapy Designation from China’s NMPA. The agreement grants potential milestones of $420M and tiered high single-digit royalties, while Aligos retains rights in other major markets.
1. License Deal Terms
Aligos granted Xiamen Amoytop an exclusive license to develop and commercialize pevifoscorvir sodium in Greater China. The partnership commenced with a $25M upfront payment to Aligos.
2. Financial and Royalty Provisions
Under the agreement, Aligos may receive up to $420M in clinical, regulatory, and sales milestones plus tiered high single-digit royalties on net sales in the licensed territories.
3. Regulatory Breakthrough
Pevifoscorvir sodium has been awarded Breakthrough Therapy Designation by China’s Center for Drug Evaluation, qualifying it for priority review of a New Drug Application.
4. Remaining Global Rights and Pipeline
Aligos retains all development and commercialization rights for pevifoscorvir sodium in the US, Europe, South Korea, Japan and other markets, and plans to advance its ASO candidate ALG-170675 into clinical trials in China in Q3 2026.
