XLV•AllianceBernstein sees recovery potential in healthcare stocks, citing durable demand, attractive valuations and possible earnings gains from AI. Healthcare stocks gained 27% from January 2023 through September 2026, while healthcare funds saw about $31 billion in outflows.
AllianceBernstein said healthcare stocks could benefit from durable demand, attractive valuations and diversification as AI-driven market concentration grows. The sector gained 27% from January 2023 through September 2026, trailing the MSCI World Index’s 99% return; technology funds attracted about $306 billion over that period, while healthcare funds recorded roughly $31 billion in outflows.
The firm said AI adoption could accelerate healthcare earnings growth through productivity gains, with potential benefits largely absent from current valuations. It said investors should favor reasonably priced healthcare companies with resilient business models capable of sustaining returns above their cost of capital.
