Alphabet shares rose 1.8% premarket after Google launched Argon, a top-tier AI model that will be part of its Gemini 4 lineup. Argon scored higher than OpenAI's Astra and Anthropic's Opus on several benchmarks but trailed on some metrics, including two coding benchmarks.

2. Alphabet shares rise
Alphabet shares rose 1.8% to $347.30 in premarket trading, outperforming Magnificent 7 peers. The shares were up nearly 9.9% year to date as of the last close, compared with a 9.7% gain for the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF. Alphabet traded at 20.82 times expected earnings for the next 12 months, above the industry median of 11.67.
