Alphabet Secures $36B AI Chip Deals and Waymo Deploys 577 Vehicles
Alphabet has secured agreements to supply Anthropic with $36 billion of AI chips through financing arranged by Apollo Global and Blackstone, supporting large-model training through 2027. In Texas, Alphabet’s Waymo unit registered 577 autonomous vehicles, outpacing Tesla’s 42-unit deployment by over 13-to-one under the new state registry.
1. Alphabet AI Chip Purchase
Alphabet will supply Anthropic with $36 billion of custom AI accelerators, structured through financing arranged by Apollo Global and Blackstone. Chips are slated for delivery through 2027 to support large model training initiatives and bolster Google’s AI hardware revenue pipeline.
2. TPU Capacity Agreements
Google secured capacity agreements for up to five gigawatts of next-generation TPU compute capacity with Anthropic, in partnership with Samsung, SK Hynix, and Broadcom. These commitments expand Google Cloud’s infrastructure footprint, enabling enterprise AI workloads and safety research.
3. Waymo Texas Fleet
Waymo registered 577 autonomous vehicles in Texas under the new SAE Level 4 certification law, outpacing Tesla’s 42-vehicle deployment more than 13-to-one. This scale advantage reinforces Alphabet’s lead in commercial robotaxi operations within the state.
