Alphabet’s Wing to Launch Bay Area Drone Deliveries After 750,000+ Deliveries Completed
Alphabet’s Wing will launch drone deliveries to homes across the San Francisco Bay Area in coming months after completing over 750,000 deliveries to more than two million customers nationwide. It offers sub-30-minute grocery delivery for Walmart, rapid food delivery with DoorDash, and pilots hybrid ground-to-air service with Serve Robotics.
1. Bay Area Launch
Wing plans to begin delivering lightweight packages by automated drone to homes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in the coming months, marking its return to one of its earliest testing grounds and a key step in scaling operations.
2. Scale and Partnerships
To date, Wing has completed over 750,000 deliveries for more than two million customers across parts of the U.S., offering sub-30-minute grocery deliveries for Walmart and rapid food orders via DoorDash.
3. Hybrid Ground-to-Air Pilot
In its latest pilot, on-ground robots from Serve Robotics collect meals from restaurants and transfer them to Wing drones for aerial delivery, testing an integrated logistics network for small-item fulfillment.
