Amazon AWS Secures Over 1M Nvidia Blackwell GPUs for Global Deployment

AMZNAMZN

AWS will deploy over 1 million Nvidia Blackwell and Rubin GPUs plus Spectrum and ConnectX networking across global data centers through 2027 to boost AI inference capacity. Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin has filed for FCC approval of a 50,000-satellite solar-powered orbital data center network.

1. AWS Nvidia GPU Deployment Deal

Amazon Web Services has committed to deploying more than one million Nvidia Blackwell and Rubin GPUs across its global data centers through 2027. The multi-year agreement also includes Spectrum and ConnectX networking hardware to handle increasingly demanding AI inference workloads, positioning AWS to meet growing enterprise and research model requirements.

2. Blue Origin Orbital Data Center Proposal

Blue Origin has requested Federal Communications Commission approval for Project Sunrise, a constellation of 50,000 solar-powered satellites designed to perform advanced computing in orbit. The plan leverages a Terawave communications backbone and aims to offload energy-intensive AI workloads from terrestrial data centers, though challenges like radiation hardening and launch costs remain.

3. Stock Performance and Analyst Views

Amazon shares have trended lower recently as investors assess the pace of AI-driven revenue growth versus rising infrastructure investments. Analysts are weighing the long-term benefits of expanded GPU capacity against near-term margin pressures from capital expenditures.
