1. Acquisition talks
Amazon is reportedly in talks to acquire artificial intelligence startup Decart in a deal that could be valued at around $7 billion. A deal could happen soon if the talks do not fall apart or another suitor does not emerge.
2. Decart’s products and funding
Decart’s Lucy model can edit live video in real time, and its Oasis model generates simulated environments to train and test robotics and autonomous-driving systems. Decart was valued at nearly $4 billion in May and raised $300 million that month in a funding round led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia joining as a new investor.
3. Other acquisition interest
Anthropic decided last month not to pursue an acquisition of Decart after due diligence; it had explored a deal in August for potentially $6 billion. The reported Amazon talks could not be immediately verified, and Decart and Amazon did not respond to requests for comment.
