On April 24, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Salesforce and Stripe joined the Universal Commerce Protocol Tech Council alongside founding members Google, Shopify, Etsy, Target and Wayfair, steering the open standard for AI-driven commerce. The council aligns technical direction for an open-source protocol covering product discovery, cart building, checkout and post-purchase interactions across any platform and payment processor.

Wayfair, as a founding Tech Council member, will collaborate with leading tech and commerce platforms to shape agentic commerce standards, enhancing platform interoperability and potentially expanding the reach of its product listings through AI agents operating under a unified protocol.
