Amazon Rolls Out 20-Minute Amazon Now Delivery to US and Europe
Amazon will bring its Amazon Now ultra-fast delivery service, which uses over 360 micro-fulfilment centres, to the US and Europe. In India, order volumes climbed 25% month-on-month and Prime members have tripled their purchase frequency after adopting the 20-minute delivery offering.
1. US and Europe Expansion
Amazon plans to extend its Amazon Now service— which guarantees delivery of thousands of items within 20 minutes via micro-fulfilment centres— from India and the UAE into key US and European markets, marking the first international rollout of the offering.
2. Indian Market Traction
Since launching in India last year, Amazon has built over 360 micro-fulfilment centres; order volumes for Amazon Now have risen by 25% month-on-month and Prime members using the service now place three times as many orders as before.
3. Micro-fulfilment and Drone Logistics
The company is scaling its micro-fulfilment network to support 20-minute delivery windows, while separately developing Prime Air drone logistics to deliver a wider range of items within 30 minutes as a longer-term complement.
4. Broader Delivery Strategy
Alongside the Amazon Now expansion, Amazon is broadening one-hour and three-hour shipping options in the US and has reduced over 57,000 corporate roles since late 2022 as part of a wider cost-reduction effort to optimize its logistics operations.
