Amazon to invest $1 billion over five years in US data center communities
AMZN•Amazon said it would invest more than $1 billion over five years in communities with its US data centers, funding education, job training, energy affordability and preservation projects. AWS also said it was 75% of the way toward its goal of returning more water to communities than its data centers use by 2030.

Amazon’s cloud computing division said it would invest more than $1 billion over the next five years in US communities where it has data centers. The plans include spending on education, job training, energy affordability, water and energy preservation, and other local priorities.
2. Water and local concerns
AWS said it aims to be water positive across its data centers by 2030, returning more water to communities than it uses, and is 75% of the way toward that goal. Amazon said it had invested $276 billion in data centers from 2011 to 2025 and had more than 100 data center moratoriums being considered across the country.
